EnviCrimeNet is proud to be a beneficiary of the LIFE ECOFORCE project (Environmental Crime Directive – Operational Framework for Optimised Response and Compliance Enforcement), a major European initiative supporting the practical implementation of Directive (EU) 2024/1203 on the protection of the environment through criminal law. As the first European network bringing together specialised law enforcement authorities dedicated exclusively to combating environmental crime, EnviCrimeNet is committed to ensuring that the Directive is translated into effective operational practices, stronger enforcement capacities and enhanced cooperation across Member States.
Coordinated by the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre (LPL-ICJP), LIFE ECOFORCE brings together an exceptional consortium of leading organisations in environmental crime enforcement, legal research, capacity building, environmental compliance and wildlife crime prevention. The partnership includes specialised law enforcement bodies, recognised NGOs, legal and environmental experts, academic institutions and training providers, creating a unique platform to bridge policy, science and operational practice. Through this collaboration, the project will develop practical guidance, training programmes, operational tools and policy recommendations to support competent authorities in the implementation of the new Directive.
For EnviCrimeNet, participation in LIFE ECOFORCE represents a strategic opportunity to contribute the operational perspective of environmental crime investigators while strengthening cooperation among European and international enforcement communities. The project directly supports the network’s mission of promoting best practices, knowledge exchange and professional excellence among environmental crime practitioners.
